Wake word

Listen stays on after you leave. Nothing starts until you say “Hey Grok.”

Quiet gap

After a pause you choose, from 5 to 120 seconds, the conversation ends and only the wake word remains.

On the phone

  • NotesSave, retitle, and search what you asked Grok to remember.
  • RemindersOne-off alerts, alarms, and timers.
  • CalendarToday, and a month you can move through. If the phone calendar is unavailable, events stay in the app.
  • SearchNews, weather, and what is on in town, spoken and written, with sources.

Privacy

This app has no server of its own and does not collect analytics. The key is stored encrypted on the phone. Wake-word audio is checked on the device and is not uploaded. Notes, reminders, and in-app events stay in a local file.

A conversation is not private from xAI. The key is sent to api.x.ai to mint a short-lived voice token. After “Hey Grok,” or when you tap the microphone, your speech and the transcript go to xAI. A typed question and a live search do too. xAI sees that content under your key.

Install

Download the APK, then install it from the phone or from a computer.

Questions

What is Grok Voice?
A bring-your-own-key voice assistant for Android. The phone talks to the xAI Realtime API directly. The wake word stays on the device. Speech, transcripts, and search are sent to xAI under your key. The app is free and open source under the MIT license.
How do I install it?
Download the arm64 APK for Android 8 and newer from the GitHub releases, then open it on the phone or install it from a computer with adb. The package is signed for sideloading. It is not a Play Store upload.
Where does my API key go?
You paste an xAI API key during setup. It is stored encrypted on the phone, and sent to api.x.ai to mint a short-lived voice token. Speech, the transcript, and live search then go to xAI under that key.
Are wake-word recordings uploaded?
No. Wake-word audio is checked on the device and is not uploaded. “Hey Grok” is trained on the phone from three recordings you make, and those samples are not uploaded.
What can I ask?
Notes, timers, alarms, reminders, and calendar events. The assistant acts on the phone, then tells you what happened.
